Ever finished a reading thinking "so what is it actually saying?" The cards may not be vague; the question may have been too broad. Changing only the question makes a reading much clearer.
1. Ask "how" instead of yes or no
- Will they text me? → What can I do to reconnect with them?
2. Set a time frame
- Will the job change work out? → What should I focus on in my job search over the next three months?
A time frame makes the cards easier to read against real life.
3. Make yourself the main character
- Why are they acting like this? → What do I need to understand from how they are acting?
No card can settle what someone else feels. Ask for an answer you can use.
4. One thing at a time
Ask about love, money and moving all at once and the cards blur together. Start with what weighs on you most.
5. Split the options
- Is A or B better? → What is the flow if I choose A? What is it if I choose B?
Draw twice, or use a spread that gives each option its own positions, to compare them.
6. Do not repeat the same question
Redrawing right after a card you dislike means hunting for what you want to hear. Wait a day, change the question a little, and ask again.
7. Write down how you feel
Note whether you are asking out of worry or hope. When you look back at the cards later, you will know the state you asked in.
Try it now
At the Goblin Office you write your own question and lay out seven cards. Each position has a meaning, such as their feelings, the obstacle and advice for action, so a better question gets a more specific answer.
