Halloween began as the night that closed one year and prepared for winter. So this season suits spreads that ask "what should I settle now?" more than "what is coming?"
1. The letting-go spread (3 cards)
- Position 1: what I held on to this year
- Position 2: the space that opens if I let it go
- Position 3: what to welcome into that space
Do not panic at Death or the Tower here. In this spread they show you how to end things well.
2. The shadow spread (4 cards)
Like the Moon's night, this spread looks at the parts of you that usually stay hidden.
- Position 1: the me people see
- Position 2: the feeling I keep hidden
- Position 3: where that feeling came from
- Position 4: how to comfort it
Read the card in position 2 not as something bad but as "the me I have not said out loud yet".
3. The winter spread (5 cards)
- Position 1: what I harvested this year
- Position 2: what I learned this year
- Position 3: what needs rest over winter
- Position 4: the seed to grow over winter
- Position 5: the energy coming to me in spring
Like the Hermit, light a lamp and turn the cards over slowly, one at a time.
If drawing alone feels hard
At the Goblin Office you write a question and get a seven-card spread with set positions. Try a question like "what should I let go of this year?"
