One card in the morning. It is the tarot habit the Goblin Office recommends most. You do not need a big question: a single card becomes a small lens for looking at your day.
1. Keep the question short and open
One-card readings work best with questions like these.
- What should I keep in mind today?
- What is one thing to be careful about today?
- What energy will help me today?
Yes-or-no questions make a card feel like a verdict, which tends to make people more anxious. Asking "what" turns the card into a hint.
2. Read the card in this order
- First impression: hold on to the first word the picture gives you.
- The basic meaning: then look up what the card means.
- Today: pick one moment in your day where that meaning fits.
If you draw the Star, for example, connect its meaning of hope to a message you have been putting off.
3. Reversed cards are fine
A reversed card is not a bad card. It means the energy is blocked for now or turned inward. The Sun reversed is a day when joy is briefly hidden, so make a point of finding one small pleasure.
4. Write one line
In the evening, write one line: "Today's card: ___ / what actually happened". After a week you will start to feel how the cards speak to you. A card that keeps coming back may be the lesson you are working on.
5. When you want more, use more cards
One card shows the mood. Complicated questions, such as love, a job change or an ex, are easier to read with a spread where each position has its own meaning. Try a seven-card spread for those.
