Saju readings say things like "strong output star" or "weak authority star". These are the ten gods. They sound complicated, but there is one idea behind them: how each character relates to you, your day stem.
Five relationships
The five elements relate in five ways: the same as you, what you create, what you control, what controls you, and what supports you. Each splits by yin and yang, which makes ten.
- Companion stars (the same element as you): friends, peers, rivals. Independence, drive and teamwork.
- Output stars (what you create): expression, talent, creativity. Showing yourself through words and work.
- Wealth stars (what you control): money, practicality, reach. Turning effort into results.
- Authority stars (what controls you): rules, work, responsibility. Being shaped by society.
- Resource stars (what supports you): learning, care, reflection. What fills and protects you.
An example
For someone whose day stem is yang Wood (a great tree), Fire is what wood creates, so it becomes their output stars. Lots of fire in their chart often means expressive people drawn to work that shows itself through words or creations.
More is not better, less is not worse
- Lots of wealth stars: a good money sense, but easily stretched thin.
- Few authority stars: freedom, but practising your own rules helps.
- Lots of resource stars: deep thinking, but action can come late.
The ten gods are not good or bad; they are a map of where you put your energy.
Curious about yours?
They can only be worked out once you know your day stem, which comes from your birth date and time.
